Bob Graham on Reaction Time
Bob Graham on reaction time: In my own experience I can change my reaction time by increasing my concentration and focus and I think that has a lot to do with anybody's reaction time. I'm 73 and I don't think I've lost to much reaction time over the years I'm still competitive with the guys that are shooting fast times although as always some of them are led head of me and reaction time anyway. Yes you can work on your reaction time off the main thing in fast draw and I have preached this to the new people coming in. is to get your accuracy down first get up and shoot your comfortable speed that you can hit five shots and row or five targets in a row and beat accurate with that. Then start dialing in your speed or reaction time coming off the light a little bit faster. I didn't start out that way I started off shooting fast because I was thinking fast draw and that's what you're supposed to do. New people that build their muscle memory and their concentration as they develop their selves and their skills to a lot better job and more consistently than the guys that just jump out there and try to go over all fast. Most of the guy's and fast draw realize this once they get into it. Speed is out what wins the contest it's the overall accuracy with some speed you look back on every contest that's won except for maybe you one contest that I can remember was won with 24 hits. Very few when a world championship without a miss or two they may be shooting real fast times and if you're shooting fast enough you can afford a couple of misses maybe but it's getting to the point now that you can't afford more than one miss and still expect to win a big contest.
